What is an Elective Ultrasound?
An Elective Ultrasound is one done that expectant parents
choose to do not requiring a prescription or order from a Medical Doctor. It
has been proven to provide a positive bonding experience for the Mother, Father
and family members with the unborn baby. The realistic surface images provide a
connection between the parents and the baby that can be beneficial to the whole
family. A routine medical examination should have been performed by your
healthcare professional to access the Gestational Age of the fetus and to
evaluate for fetal anomalies as well as basic components of fetal anatomy.
Expectant parents often choose elective 3D/4D ultrasounds to see their unborn
baby in clear live 4D views that you just don’t get with traditional 2D
Ultrasound. Many expectant parents feel that one diagnostic ultrasound during a
pregnancy is just not enough!
What is the Difference between 2D, 3D and 4D Ultrasound Imaging?
2D is the black and white pictures often acquired by your
healthcare professional and they are 2 Dimensional plain or a slice of anatomy.
The 3Dand 4D Ultrasounds render a surface image which is a very realistic live
image of your baby and all of his/her features and movements. The 3D is a still
photo and the 4D is a video showing the movement baby in 3D.
Are 3D/4D ultrasounds safe for my Baby and Myself? Are there any risks?
Extensive studies have found that Ultrasound has not been
shown to cause any harm to baby or mother. Routine scanning of all pregnancies
is now normal throughout the United States. 3D/4D scanning uses the same type
and intensity of ultrasound as with conventional 2D scanning. Just think- High

Do I need to set up an Appointment in Advance?
Yes! We are by appointment only and although we may be able
to fit you in for a same day appointment, we do not take walk ins.
How long does the 3D/4D session take?
The length of time varies depending on your choice of
package, approx. 10-25 minutes. But we will take our time with you to make sure
that you have the best experience possible.
When is the Best Time for an Ultrasound?
We can see and determine the Gender as early as 15 Weeks, and
we recommend between 15 to 20 weeks for gender determinations.
We find the best time to obtain the most accurate and
dramatic 3D/4D Pictures is between 27 and 32 weeks during this time the baby is
developing fat layers and muscles that fill in their features and structures.
Beyond 34 weeks it starts getting too crowded to obtain the best images.
What type of clothing is recommended on the day of my appointment?
A comfortable, two piece outfit to allow accessibility to
your belly. Dresses are not recommended unless shorts are worn underneath.
Is the 4D Ultrasound Covered by Insurance?
At this point in time insurance does not cover the cost of elective
